Head and Deputy Head Students

Every year, CNS appoints new Head Students and Deputy Head Students to represent the school and to work closely with the Headteacher.

“The role is to be involved across the community, raise the profile of the school, equip the students better for their chosen pathways and create opportunities other students can aspire to. I look forward to closely working with the chosen students.”

Jo Philpott, Headteacher

Head Students

Congratulations to Iza and James who were selected for the roles of Head Students for 2024-25.

Iza

As head student I’m focusing on the diversity of the curriculum in KS3 & 4, looking to support students inside and outside the classroom. I aim to ensure our student voice is reflected in school polices around diversity and inclusion. I’m also looking to introduce books for KS3 & 4 that promote diversity within literature.

I’m looking forward to this opportunity of being head student at CNS!

James

As head student I am looking forward to being able to communicate the ideas and concerns from students around the school to Ms Philpott and the school team.

I am also excited to start a legacy project about getting all age ranges from around the school involved in the science aspect of the school and promoting interest and future careers in STEM subjects.

Deputy Head Students

Congratulations to Charis, Ben, Lyra and Joshua who were all selected for the roles of Deputy Head Students for 2024-25.

Charis

As a deputy head student, I hope to bring my passion for student engagement, volunteering and leadership to CNS. I believe that school is not just about learning, but connecting with staff, other students and, most importantly, developing as an individual. I have seen the difference that these activities can make and want to inspire others into contributing to the wider school community.

Ben

As deputy head student my aim is to sustain and improve our school’s inclusivity.

I plan on helping to educate our community on helpful and also harmful terms.

I hope to improve our understanding of ourselves and our awareness of each other.

I will do my best in this role to be a positive role model and someone you can always come and talk to. Let’s make this a successful year!

Well done to all the students who will now represent City of Norwich School in a leadership role.
