CNS proudly celebrated its A Level Film Studies students’ efforts with the inaugural ‘CNS Oscars’ event held on March 26. This special occasion showcased the outstanding work of its Year 13 students, who have excelled in practical filmmaking as part of their coursework.
The A Level Film Studies course requires students to create a 4-5 minute film, which accounts for 30% of their final grade. This year, students had various briefs to choose from, and under the guidance of the school’s experienced film teachers, the students wrote scripts, directed actors, selected locations, operated cameras, and edited their films. Seventeen students participated, with five achieving full marks for their impressive projects.
The ‘CNS Oscars’ event provided an exciting atmosphere reminiscent of the prestigious Academy Awards. Students, their actors, family, friends, and members of the community gathered to view the films and celebrate the hard work and creativity displayed throughout the year. The evening included a glamorous red carpet, formal dress and photographs, adding to the celebratory spirit of the night.
“Seeing our students’ hard work come to life on the big screen is incredibly rewarding,” said Jonathan Rootham, Deputy Faculty Leader of English at CNS. “The CNS Oscars allowed us to celebrate their dedication and talent, making it a night to remember for everyone involved.”
Jo Philpott, Headteacher at City of Norwich School said: “This was a wonderful event showcasing excellence at CNS. Parents, staff and students all celebrated each other’s success on the night. Well done to everyone involved!”
