Last week, the MFL department took 70 Year 8 students to Amiens in northern France for three days.
Highlights on the first day included shopping for lunch in Boulogne market and seeing how biscuits are made at the Dhardelot Biscuitiers (and tasting them afterwards, of course!). Students spent Thursday enjoying the many exhilarating roller coasters of Parc Astérix, set in the world of the iconic French comic book series. On the final day, the morning was spent visiting the magnificent Amiens cathedral, the largest medieval cathedral in the world. In the afternoon, students delighted in the underwater life on display at Nausicaá Centre National de la Mer, the largest aquarium in Europe.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip and in particular the rush of putting their classroom French into practice in real-world situations.
