Year 9 STEM Workshop
On Tuesday 23rd September, The Smallpeice Trust came in and delivered a STEM workshop titled the Renewable Energy Challenge, for a small group of our Year 9 students.
During the day, students explored how domestic electrical energy is supplied, from generation through to delivery into homes. Working in teams, they assumed roles that reflected real-world careers in the energy sector. Their challenge was to provide power to a small village by designing and building a functional wind turbine or hydroelectric waterwheel.
At the end of the workshop, each team presented their working model along with supporting marketing materials to the rest of the group.
The workshop was a great success and everyone enjoyed the day!
