A  group of 51 Year 11 and Year 12 students recently travelled to Oxford University so that they could get a taste of life as an undergraduate and find out information about applying. The trip was part of the New College’s Step-Up Programme with which CNS is affiliated and which is designed to inspire and support state-school students throughout Years 11, 12 and 13.
The programme, which was launched in 2017/18, aims to show students that Oxford is a realistic and achievable option and provides regular contact between the College’s Outreach team and students over the three years.
Activities on the day included a question-and-answer session with an alumna of CNS who is currently studying for her finals at Oxford, a taster session of what it is like to analyse a text at undergraduate level with a music lecturer, and a tour of New College, where students were particularly excited to see the exact spot where Draco Malfoy is turned into a ferret in the Harry Potter films!
