The sixth form psychology students had a really great day visiting the psychology department at the UEA last week.Â
They experienced an undergraduate lecture about attention and how this is influenced by those around us. They also got to meet lots of the researchers in the laboratories where they carry out their research, from looking at child development to the use of virtual reality in research and all of the ways they scan, interrupt and measure brain activity in the department. This included checking out the MRI machine which is currently being used to investigate ways to improve the return of smell for people affected by Covid. One student even got to try out the MRI simulator to see what the experience is like for participants.Â
The students are now looking forward to taking part in some current academic research to play a small part in developing their understanding of the human mind and behaviour.
